NWLC Responds to the Mass Shooting at Tree of Life Synagogue

Posted on October 27, 2018

The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):

“The National Women’s Law Center extends its deepest condolences to the Tree Of Life community and the Jewish community at large. Stoking fear, normalizing hate, and ignoring gun violence will never make our country great. Calling for more guns and more armed guards will not make our communities safe. Education, inclusion, healing, and a commitment to changes in our laws, policies, and culture – at all levels of our society and government – are urgently needed. To paraphrase Martin Luther King Jr., only light will drive out darkness, and only love can drive out hate.

Our nation may be a little less hopeful today, but it is our responsibility to show up for each other and continue to work for a better tomorrow.”
