NWLC President and CEO Fatima Goss Graves will Always Stand with Dreamers

(Washington, D.C.) Tomorrow evening, Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center, will not be attending the State of the Union address.

The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center:

“Despite press reports to the contrary, I have decided to not attend the State of the Union address as a guest of Congresswoman Speiers. I fully support the efforts to raise awareness that night about the scourge of sexual harassment and violence at work and beyond. But I cannot attend in the face of an intense effort to elevate a xenophobic immigration agenda. I stand with the community of hard-working immigrants in this country—including the young “Dreamers”—who are currently under siege by President Trump. Immigrants attend our schools, work and pay taxes, start businesses, serve in the military and call America their home. This is a moment of truth for our country. It’s time to end the Administration’s repeated attempts to tear these families apart.”
