The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, NWLC Senior Vice President for Program:

“Today’s decision is a win for all women and men on our nation’s college campuses. The Court has recognized the value of diversity in higher education and the need to create equal opportunities for all students. Increasing diversity benefits women, especially women of color, who are more likely to succeed in schools that value a variety of backgrounds and eliminate barriers to male-dominated fields, such as engineering and computer science. As our country grapples with racial bias in communities and on college campuses, colleges must do their part to promote inclusivity and cultural awareness. They must counter persistent gender and racial stereotypes, enhance the educational experiences of all students, and prepare our future leaders to succeed in a competitive, global job market.”
