Black Women Tell Their Stories of Sexual Abuse by Music Mogul, Russell Simmons, in “On the Record” Documentary

The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):

“For too long, Black women’s lived experiences and struggles as survivors have been erased from the sexual misconduct narratives in this country. It’s why the brave decisions of several Black survivors in On the Record to come forward with their allegations of rape and sexual abuse by music mogul Russell Simmons are important and resonate with so many. By telling these stories, hidden for decades, they are reclaiming their own narrative and challenging all of us to ensure that the work to build the systems for justice, accountability, and healing truly serves Black women.”
