NWLC Reacts to CBS Announcement of Its Financial Contribution to the National Women’s Law Center and TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund

The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, President and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC):

“The generous support from CBS will further the National Women’s Law Center’s critical work to educate and inform the public debate around sexual harassment, and—through the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund—get justice for more survivors of sexual harassment and assault. Their support is critical and we are grateful for it. We are also grateful to the many survivors who took great risk to speak out about the abuse they endured at CBS. They join a chorus of a survivors who have transformed the way workplaces and our culture more broadly address violence and equity.

“But the road doesn’t end here. We are hopeful that CBS’s statement today is a first step in what will be a long-term commitment toward ending the toxic culture of abuse that infected their organization for so long. To truly drive real and sustainable change, CBS must model what it looks like to reject the power dynamics and institutional sexism that got them here. All of us—other institutions, women, shareholders, and viewers around the world—will be watching.”
