Development Data Entry Associate

The Position 

The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) seeks a Development Data Entry Associate to support NWLC’s fundraising efforts. The Associate will process all incoming gifts and acknowledgements and provide data entry support for the development team that is expanding networks of, and deepening relationships with, individual, corporate, law firm and foundation donors.

  • Process, in a timely and accurate manner, all incoming gifts, including collaborating with members of the development team to determine appropriate gift designations, allocations, and special handling requirements and entering the related batches into Raiser’s Edge (RE); 
  • Process all contribution-type gift acknowledgements using email or mail merge functionality in Raiser’s Edge or manually as needed, working with development team members to ensure accuracy; 
  • Maintain relationships with all third-party donation pass-through entities and processing donations through manual entries or imports as necessary; 
  • Assist the Development Database Manager with troubleshooting and resolving gift processing questions; 
  • Assist development team members with capturing information for new constituents, including biographical information, attributes, contact preferences, relationships, actions, and notes as well as entering pledges, actions and custom proposals/opportunities into RE;  
  • Assist with data entry for all events, including gift entry, participant invitation, registration, and attendance information; 
  • Provide technical support for Mail function within RE, making updates to mail routines such as acknowledgements and other letter merges;  
  • Assist the development team with data hygiene projects, such as address updates, duplicate record cleanup, outstanding pledge research, and constituency code updates; 
  • Assist the Development Database Manager with the generation of monthly reconciliation reports for all revenue streams and collaborate with the Finance team to resolve any unreconciled items that may arise during the General Ledger and RE monthly reconciliation process, and;  
  • Other duties as assigned. 


The ideal candidate must possess: 

  • Experience in fundraising/development, bookkeeping/accounting, data entry, or other related positions; 
  • Strong research, organizational, oral and written communication, and proofreading skills, with a strong eye for detail, and a thoughtful, analytical approach to managing complex tasks; 
  • Experience with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; 
  • Experience inputting data or gift entry into Raiser’s Edge or a similar content management system; 
  • The ability to be self-directed, provide solutions, work well with competing priorities, meet deadlines, and manage workflow processes involving multiple people; 
  • Collaborative style combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment; 
  • Sound judgment and the ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential information regarding the Center’s business and sensitive donor information; 
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule when required to meet deadlines or other priorities, and; 
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience working on gender and racial equity and centering communities of color in their approach to work. 

Additional preferred skills and knowledge: 

  • Experience with gift acknowledgments and special event support. 

Key Relationships 

The Development Data Entry Associate reports directly to the Director of Development Services and works closely with the Development Database Manager. In addition, the Associate collaborates with colleagues in the Development and Finance teams.  


This position is included in the union-represented bargaining unit, NWLC United, affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70.   

Compensation & Benefits 

A minimum salary of $61,540 will be provided to the successful candidate who has experience directly relevant to this role, consistent with the National Women’s Law Center’s compensation framework. 

The Law Center offers a comprehensive benefits package, and four weeks of annual vacation.   

NWLC is a non-profit organization whose headquarters and staff are based in Washington, D.C. However, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, most NWLC staff are temporarily teleworking with the option to work from our office, located in historic Dupont Circle (moving to Franklin Square in early 2023). We continue to monitor public health guidance and keep safety, science, and flexibility top of mind as we evaluate what reopening looks like for our team.
