What’s at Stake Today

Although overall unemployment rates have declined since the end of the recession, unemployment rates remain high for single mothers and adult Black women and Latinas. Federal emergency unemployment benefits are no longer available for long-term unemployed workers. And many women can only find jobs that pay poverty-level wages.

What Is NWLC Doing?

We’re calling on Congress to stop the budget cuts that have slowed the economy—and to start investing in programs that create good jobs and help families that have been left behind in an uneven recovery.

We support reforms to the unemployment insurance program that will provide adequate and reliable income support and improve reemployment services for jobless workers.
